RECKLESS DRIVER GETS BEATING FROM THE MOB

BY MICHAEL MBURU
A matatu driver was badly beaten by mob along Mweki road after  knocking down a class six pupil who was passing beside the road heading to school yesterday in the morning.
The pupil who broke his arm and leg said that he didn’t understand how he was knocked down since the matatu hit him from the back and he didn’t expect it since he was far away from the tarmac road.
According to Muchemi who was passing by said that they beat the driver since he was trying to escape after knocking down the pupil. He said that each person who saw the incident beat him with whatever one could come across may it be stone, sand and sticks.

Another eyewitness who sought anonymity disclosed that  the pupil was four meters away from the tarmac road where he was knocked down from. He said that Mukambi Odiak who is the driver knocked down the pupil and quickly came out of the matatu trying to run away, only to find himself surrounded by an angry mob who also happened to see the incident and took the law into their hands by beating him.
Musiva, his conductor, insisted that his driver wasn’t drunken unless he had many thoughts since the previous day he didn’t meet his wife.
The police commander of the area said that it wasn’t good for people to act upon someone after such an incident and those who do so would be punished by law.

The pupil was taken to nearby hospital together with the driver who was badly beaten where they are still receiving medication.
